I believe that photography should feel like actually creating memories- no stiff poses or awkward silences. My mission is to capture images that showcase your story- while making the experience effortless and enjoyable.

After college, I worked in marketing for 7 years before diving full time into Kalani Photo. Over my 12+ years of experience, I've developed and deepened my passion for photography and capturing people’s precious moments- and realized that what I love capturing most is love.
Back in high school, where I developed my deep love and passion for the art. I studied photography and journalism in college and interned with a wedding photographer where I fell in love with capturing people's love stories.
I named my business Kalani Photo, after my middle name “Makanamaikalani”
My documentary journalism background allows me to capture your day in a way that is candid and true to you- each tear captured, laugh forever framed, and smiles of loved ones that will forever shine on. When I don't have a camera in hand I am hanging out with my husband, loved ones and fur babies.
which means “gift from heaven” in Hawaiian. Like heaven, or “Kalani”, I strive to create timeless images that pull you back into those moments of bliss, love, and joy.

My role is to guide you through our session (or your day) with poses, movements and moments that create a diverse gallery of beautiful images that you can look back on and cherish forever. I am a bubbly, fun person and like to make my clients feel at ease in front of my lens, no awkward silences, or questionable poses here, just comfortable joyous moments.

Intentional Approach
I am a HUGE animal lover
I have 2 golden retrievers, 1 chihuahua yorkie, 1 cat. I spend all my time with them, and my world revolves around them!
I love to decorate
for any season/holiday, Valentines Day is my favorite!
My coffee order
I love a cold brew with cold foam if I’m traveling- but my all time favorite is my Nespresso coffee at home!
It runs in the family
My grandpa was a professional airplane photographer, my grandma dabbled in photography and I have three of her cameras. Going through their photos from their time is so nostalgic and has shown me the importance of photography in capturing both the big moments and the small details (like what their kitchen looked like in the 70s). They both aren't here any more, and I was never able to meet my grandpa- but I can't help but feel aligned in my purpose and that they are smiling down on me as I follow in their footsteps in documenting this beautiful world we live in.
